Solar energy has attracted companies from different sectors that are looking to invest in a sustainable and economical way of generating electricity. As is the case with the RVM Group, which installed a 379,5 kWp photovoltaic plant at Fazenda Monte Alto, in Guaxupé (MG), providing savings of R$35 per month on the electricity bill.
For Rafael Ribeiro, administrative director of RVM – a network of gas stations, restaurants, coffee, cattle, soy and corn farms – investment in solar energy was important, as it combines financial profitability and environmental sustainability.
“It was an investment that we were very proud of. This plant that we have set up will generate enough energy to meet the consumption of this coffee farm, in addition to meeting the demand of our gas stations in Guaxupé, Alfenas, Passos and Campos Gerais”, explained Ribeiro.
According to Geovani Magalhães, CEO of Mega Solar, the company responsible for executing the project, there are 1100 345 W photovoltaic modules installed, with a generation of 50 thousand kWh / month.
“It is a great pleasure for us, once again, to be able to consolidate such an important project in the city of Guaxupé. We see that solar energy continues to be a great engine for our region’s economy”, highlighted Magalhães.
According to Maurício Fernandes, purchasing manager at Grupo RVM, the choice of Mega Solar to install the plant was made through a quotation process with several companies and technical research into the services they had already performed.
“We carried out a very in-depth economic analysis of the return on this investment. The result is being excellent. Of course, the idea is to prospect this for other locations in the RVM group and expand the business. Solar energy is the future of Brazil”, concluded Fernandes.
Investment in solar energy
Survey carried out by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) indicates that Brazil currently has approximately 5,5 GW of installed solar energy capacity, almost half of which is distributed micro and mini-generation systems, implemented in small systems in homes, businesses, industries, rural producers and public buildings. Since 2012, the segment has attracted R$14,6 billion in investments, spread across the five national regions.
From January to May this year, 1236,6 MW were added to installed capacity, an increase of 27,3% compared to the same period in 2019. Furthermore, in these five months, more than R$6 billion were invested in the sector. In the month of May alone, 7,2 jobs were created, with more than R$1 billion invested in new investments.
Also according to the Association, Minas Gerais leads the state ranking of distributed solar generation in the country. In total, there are 562,5 MW of installed power, which represents 19,8% of the entire national territory. In second comes Rio Grande do Sul, with 385 MW (13,6%), and in third is the state of São Paulo, with 356,8 MW (12,6%).
