O The smarter E South America, which will be held between the 27th and 29th of August at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo (SP), will promote the congress Eletrotec+EM Power – addressing the electrical infrastructure and energy management for buildings and industries.

The 2024 edition is structured around three main axes: update on technical standards, lightning protection and topics of medium and low voltage installations.

According to Solar Promotion International, these are transversal engineering themes that apply both to photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems and infrastructure recharging for EVs (electric vehicles).

In the question technical standardization will be presented, on the first day, work of ABNT study committees referring to standards that are under review or under public consultation.

Two recently completed standard projects are among the highlights: the first on fire prevention in solar plants installed in buildings and the other deals with protection against electric arcs and incident energy.

The second day is dedicated to lightning protection, a topic of utmost importance in Brazil, where 78 million lightning strikes occur per year, causing more than 800 deaths in the last decade.

Lectures discuss topics such as protection of photovoltaic systems and monitoring of surge protection devices, as well as grounding issues for photovoltaic plants.

The third day of the congress showcases four sessions focused on BT/MT installations, with emphasis on the performance of building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV).

Other sessions cover shock protection measures and adherence to occupational safety regulations, in addition to maintenance issues for energy storage equipment, crucial to ensuring the reliability of these systems.

With curated by Aranda in cooperation with the Mi Omega Institute, Eletrotec+EM-Power South America is aimed at professionals and companies in the areas of design, assembly and maintenance of electrical infrastructure working in distributed generation from renewable sources, overhead and underground distribution networks, transformer substations, public lighting and industrial facilities and properties.

Too many fairs

Eletrotec+EM-Power will be held parallel to the Intersolar South America – largest fair and congress in Latin America for the solar sector; The ees South America – essential event for batteries and energy storage systems in Latin America; and the Power2Drive South America – fundamental fair and congress for charging infrastructure and electro-mobility in Latin America. The four fairs make up The smarter E South America platform.
