Global shipments of DeepBlue 3.0 PV module from JA Solar should surpass the commercialization of 26 GW around the world in 2021. The high-efficiency, low-degradation technology features PERC cells and gallium-doped silicon wafers, which, in the company's understanding, guarantee greater conversion efficiency and power from generation to product.

Fernando Castro, the company's country manager in Brazil, explains that last year's official numbers have not yet been finalized, but that the estimated total of 26 GW includes: 400W modules (Deep Blue 1.0 family manufactured with 158 mm cells); 450W modules (Deep Blue 2.0 family with 166mm cells); 535W modules (Deep Blue 3.0 family with 182 mm cells).

“The growth in sales of the Deep Blue 3.0 family signals the success of our strategy and focus on high-power 535W modules, offering the best cost/benefit combination and lowest LCOE. We will continue to “retrofit” the current 400W and 450W wafer, cell and module fabs to offer greater production capacity,” said Castro.

Performance analysis of JA Solar's Deepblue PV modules

In September 2020, DeepBlue 3.0 became one of the first modules based on 182mm x 182mm wafers to be certified by authorized institutions such as TÜV SÜD, LVD and EMC, which would have enabled a solid entry into the international photovoltaic market.

The module's performance was also recognized by third-party institutions, receiving awards such as the “Energy Yield Simulation AQM Award – Monofacial Mono Group” from TÜV Rheinland and the “Outdoor Yield Performance Awards (High-efficiency PERC Module Group)” from TÜV NORD.
