A photovoltaic solar energy generated by large-scale plants represents more than half of the capacity added to electric matrix Brazilian in 2024, reveals a survey released by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

According to the data, the expansion of the supply of electricity (adding all sources) reached the mark of 9,1 GW between the months of January and October, of which 5,25 GW are from photovoltaic solar plants (57,8% of the total).

According to ANEEL, data from ONS (National Electric System Operator) indicate that the photovoltaic solar energy will continue to be the flagship of expansion of the Brazilian electricity matrix over the next few years.

“The diversification of the electricity matrix, with the increasing participation of clean and efficient sources such as solar energy, is essential to guarantee the energy supply and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future”, highlights the statement from ANEEL.

According to figures released at the latest monthly supply expansion meeting, held on October 17 by the ANEEL, the total expected installed capacity for 2024 in the country (adding all sources) is 10,77 GW, a growth of over 6,6% compared to the 10,10 GW initially forecast.
