Energy consumption should increase 4,2% in June, says ONS

O Energy consumption in Brazil should end the month of June at 74.399 MWmed – one volume 4,2% higher than recorded in the same period last year, according to a report published by ONS (National Electric System Operator). 

According to the entity, more than half of power load from the country should be demanded by the subsystem in the Southeast/Central-West region with 41.648 MWmed, an increase of 3,8% compared to June 2023. 

In the south, the forecast is 12.575 MWmed (growth of 3,1% compared to last year), while for the Northeast the estimate is that the consumption remains at 12.451 MWmed (increase of 4,3%, on the same basis of comparison).

O ONS report also points out that the stored energy through the reservoirs should end the month with rates above 65% in all SIN subsystems (National Interconnected System). “The highest percentages expected on June 30 are in the North (88,6%) and the South (81,1%), followed by the Southeast/Central-West (67,6%) and the Northeast (67,5% )”, highlighted the Operator.
