The 4th Brazilian Congress of Women in Energy, which will take place next Monday (25) at the Santander Theater, located in the JK Iguatemi Complex, in São Paulo (SP), will bring together female leaders to discuss the direction of the electricity sector.
One of the highlights of the program will be the panel “Brazil in Motion: Electric Mobility and the Future of Stored Energy,” which will highlight the decisive role of batteries in the energy transition and in overcoming structural bottlenecks in the Brazilian electricity system.
The event takes place at a strategic moment for the sector, following the publication of Joint Technical Note No. 13/2025, by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), which establishes the first regulatory guidelines for SAEs (Energy Storage Systems).
According to Lúcia Abadia, creator of congress, the electricity sector is undergoing a decisive shift, with batteries becoming essential to ensuring a cleaner, more flexible, and resilient energy matrix. She also highlights the importance of broadening the debate with a diversity of voices.
In June 2025 alone, approximately 28% of centralized solar generation was scrapped, according to a survey by Bradesco BBI. Consulting firm Volt Robotics reports that in 2024, operational restrictions caused losses of R$1,6 billion, with more than 14,6 TWh of generation suppressed at 1.445 plants.
In this scenario, storage systems emerge as an alternative to absorb excess energy during periods of low demand and make it available later, increasing efficiency and reducing losses. Furthermore, they can provide essential services, such as frequency and voltage control, contributing to the stability of the interconnected system.
The panel dedicated to the topic will also explore the synergies between storage and electric mobility, addressing solutions such as smart charging, greater autonomy for electric vehicles, and optimized use of the grid.
"More than just discussing technologies, the Congress proposes a vision for the future: how women leaders and experts can transform complex challenges into sustainable and inclusive solutions for the Brazilian energy sector," said Lúcia.
