The first LRCAP of 2026 began at 10 am this Wednesday (18). The auction, held virtually by CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization), is crucial for the security of the national electricity system.

O Canal Solar It monitors the auction in real time, which is focused on contracting thermal power plants using natural gas, coal, and hydroelectric power. Keep the page updated so you don't miss any details.

The bidding for the most anticipated auction of the year begins; understand the process.

The first product ends with a discount of 1,99%.

The first LRCAP product closes with a 1,99% discount. The product foresees contracts with a term of 10 years, with supply beginning on August 1, 2026.

After approximately 40 minutes of bidding, the auction for the first LRCAP product, focused on contracting existing natural gas and coal-fired thermal power plants, was concluded.

The final price was R$ 2.205.220,10/MW.year, representing a discount of 1,99% compared to the ceiling price of the bidding process. The product foresees contracts with a term of 10 years, with supply starting on August 1, 2026.

The second product has a discount of R$ 5,00/MW.

The bidding process for the second product of the LRCAP was finalized after approximately 25 minutes of competition. The tender covers the contracting of existing thermal power plants fueled by natural gas and coal.

The closing price reached R$ 2.249.995,00/MW.year, indicating a discount of only R$ 5,00/MW compared to the established ceiling price. For this product, the contracts have a duration of 10 years, with supply scheduled to begin on August 1, 2027.

The third product closes with a discount of 6,24%.

After approximately 50 minutes of bidding, the auction for the third product of the LRCAP was concluded, covering the contracting of thermal power plants – both new and existing – powered by natural gas and coal.

The final price reached R$ 2.718.999,37/MW.year, reflecting a 6,24% discount compared to the ceiling price of R$ 2.900.000/MW.year, set for new projects. The price for existing projects was R$ 2.250.000,00/MW.year.

In this case, the contracts stipulate a term of 10 years for existing plants and 15 years for new projects, with supply scheduled to begin on October 1, 2028.

LRCAP's fourth product secures a discount of R$10,00/MWh

The bidding for the fourth LRCAP product was completed in about 30 minutes, involving the contracting of natural gas and coal-fired power plants, both new and already in operation.

The result practically mirrored the ceiling price: the final value was R$ 2.890.000/MW.year, only R$ 10,00 below the ceiling of R$ 2.900.000/MW.year established for new projects. For existing plants, the reference price considered in the bidding process was R$ 2.250.000,00/MW.year.

Regarding the contractual terms, the product establishes terms of 10 years for existing assets and 15 years for new projects, with supply expected to begin on August 1, 2029.

Hydropower product 2030 registers a minimum discount of R$ 5,00/MW.year

The bidding for the product intended for contracting hydroelectric plants ended with a final price of R$ 1.395.000/MW.year – only R$ 5,00/MW.year below the ceiling price established in the tender.

The product covers the contracting of capacity expansions in hydroelectric plants already in operation, with supply scheduled to begin on August 1, 2030. The contract is for 15 years.

Although the results do not detail the winning projects, the following power plants were qualified for the auction: Coaracy Nunes, Fontes Nova, Foz do Areia, Itaparica, Itapebi, Jaguara, Salto Santiago, São Simão, Segredo, and Três Marias. There was no round of bidding for the expansion of thermal power plants in 2030.

Product 2031 registers a discount of 16,26%.

The final round of the LRCAP 2025 tender concluded after approximately x minutes of bidding. The tender covers the contracting of thermoelectric and hydroelectric power plants, with a mandatory delivery date of August 1, 2031.

The closing price for thermoelectric power reached R$ 2.428.308,81/MW.year, indicating a discount of only 16,26% compared to the ceiling price established for new projects, of R$ 2.900.000/MW.year. For this product, contracts have a duration of 10 years for existing projects and 15 years for new ones. It appears that there were no contracts for hydroelectric power for 2031.
