A HDT and Valley AG Solar signed a agreement of exclusivity for energy projects aimed at agribusiness, focusing on irrigation. The partnership aims to offer technological and financial solutions to customers in the sector, including solar and batteries for different scenarios in the Energy as a Service model.

According to both companies, the solutions resulting from this partnership can generate savings of up to 15% on operating costs for large farms. In addition, it can reduce the consumption of diesel oil, used to keep all machinery in full operation – especially in irrigation pivots – by 50% to 80%.

Bruno Hanna, COO of Valley AG Solar, highlights that many customers operate diesel generators as their only option, facing the challenges of logistics and the high cost of fuel. “With this technological solution, we can offer sustainable energy so that customers can solve their energy problems and focus on expanding their businesses, without worrying about investment.”

Nelson Stanisci, Director of HDT's Special Projects Business Unit, considers the partnership strategic and revolutionary for agribusiness. “The electrical infrastructure has not kept up with the growth of agribusiness, leaving many producers with limited or no access to the grid. With Huawei's portfolio of solutions and equipment, marketed by HDT, we can solve any energy problems, bringing reliability, sustainability and cost reduction”.

Yes, Rômulo Horta, Director of New Business at Huawei, highlights how this partnership reinforces the company's commitment to Brazil. “We have been in the country for 26 years and, in the digital power market alone, we already have around 25% of the market share in Latin America. Being the technological pillar of this partnership between HDT and Valley AG Solar, two major players in their segments, gives agribusiness customers the certainty that their energy efficiency projects will be environmentally and economically sustainable.”

Energy consumption in agribusiness

O Agribusiness is one of the main sectors of the Brazilian economy, representing around 27,4% of the national GDP. Furthermore, the sector accounts for around 5% of the country's total energy consumption, according to EPE (Energy Research Company). The irrigation pivot park in Brazil is one of the largest consumers of energy, which makes energy management in agribusiness a fundamental issue.

According to ANA (National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency), the Brazil has more than 30 thousand central pivots, covering an area of 1,92 million hectares. ANA's most recent mapping, released in November 2023, shows that irrigated agriculture makes more harvests viable, which tend to occur in the rainy season and in the transition to the dry season, increasing water security for agricultural production.
