As reported by Canal Solar in May 2021, the Pará Olympic Stadium - better known as Mangueirao – I was going to go through one modernization process with installation of a solar plant, and that's what's happening.

Second Lucas MacedoCEO of SDB Solar Energy, the company responsible for the project, the works began in March this year, with completion expected in June. The estimate is that the 1,14 MWp system will generate monthly savings of more than R$90.

“The economy will certainly ease the public coffers, and the resources can be used for improvements in various possible ways to the Government of the State of Pará”, he highlighted.

The project will have an estimated generation of 134 thousand kWh/month, contributing to a reduction of 200 tons of CO2 per year. In total, 2.512 455 W modules from Jinko Solar, 10 110 kW inverters from Sungrow and 80 stringboxes from Clamper will be used.

“This is a type of project that is truly immortalized in the history of our country. It’s not every day that you see a photovoltaic plant with more than 1 MWp installed under the roof of a football stadium”, highlighted the executive.

“The initiative is already part of the scope of the complete renovation that the stadium has just undergone. The work lasted more than two years and Mangueirão was officially opened on 09/04 with the local derby between Remo x Paysandu”, said Macedo.

He refers to the renovation that the stadium underwent with the installation of rainwater collection and reuse systems, as well as the expansion of capacity from 35 thousand to more than 53 thousand people.

Furthermore, the works, which cost around R$ 146 million, included new drainage and grass to the standards required by FIFA – contributing to the improvement of access and several interventions to increase public safety.

In the view of the CEO of SDB Energia Solar, anyone who follows football knows that it was a great injustice that Mangueirão was not one of the stadiums chosen as one of the arenas for the 2014 World Cup.

“The people of Pará are football fanatics and to alleviate this pain a little, almost 10 years later, the stadium is undergoing a major renovation, including the implementation of the solar plant and regaining its title as the largest stadium in the North of Brazil”, he concluded. .
