Huasun Energy recently announced the launch of the first batch of HJT (heterojunction) solar cells from its 1GW Phase V production facility in Xuancheng, China, with mass production efficiency projected to reach up to 26,24%.

According to the company, the newly produced HJT cells adopt a combination of half-cell and standard SMBB (Super Multi BusBar) processes. “We plan to enhance production by integrating advanced gettering processes and 0BB (zero busbar) technology, which is expected to further improve the average efficiency of cells in future mass production to meet the growing demand for high-quality HJT modules,” they highlighted.

From the commissioning of the production line on September 9 to the launch of the first cell on October 25, 2024, the Xuancheng Phase V production team has rigorously prepared and tested the installation over the past month.

The collaborative efforts have tackled multiple challenges, ensuring timely progress from production line design to equipment commissioning. “This achievement highlights the dedication and expertise of the Huasun team, laying a solid foundation for future mass production,” the company said.

According to Jimmy Xu, CEO of Huasun Energy, the launch of the first batch of HJT cells in the 1 GW project represents a significant breakthrough in the mass production of HJT. “We remain committed to continuous investment in material, process and technology innovation to drive the development and industrialization of heterojunction cells.”

The executive further commented that the manufacturer is dedicated to achieving a balance between cost reduction and efficiency improvement. To this end, the Phase V facility in Xuancheng will refine several processes, including the textured surface treatment method, double-sided microcrystalline applications and development of ITO composite films, in addition to developing a specialized silver-copper paste tailored for nickel-steel meshes, in line with the demand for zero-seek technology.

“In addition, we seek to enhance our global strategic partnerships to effectively leverage resources and drive innovation in photovoltaic technology and renewable energy development,” Xu concluded.
