The installed capacity of distributed solar generation has grown more than 1,3 times in rural areas in the last five years, jumping from 0,58 MW to 791,32 MW between June 2016 and 2021. The survey was carried out by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
The study also found that, in the same period analyzed, the number of photovoltaic systems installed in the country increased from 91 to 37.030, which represented an absolute growth of more than 40.000%. The growth of the sector among rural landowners can be explained by a number of factors, such as easier access to and purchase of photovoltaic solar energy systems and also by prices that are currently more affordable for consumers than in previous years.
Last week, a report from Canal Solar showed that the expansion of agribusiness has been attracting investments from companies in the solar sector, such as Renovigi, which began providing conditions for the acquisition of photovoltaic systems through the Broto business platform, from BB Seguros.
In addition to the aid and the drop in system prices, solar has also become an important tool for producers, who, by purchasing panels, are able to reduce their electricity bill expenses and apply the money saved in other technologies.
In 2020 alone, the agribusiness sector was responsible for a 6,1% increase in Brazil's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) compared to the previous year. The increase was directly related to the use of new precision technologies that perform more efficient work.
