With the expectation of receiving more than 10 million tourists during the 2025/2026 summer season, the coast of São Paulo will have a task force from ISA Energia Brasil to guarantee a reliable supply of electricity and minimize the risk of blackouts.

The company invested approximately R$ 320 million in reinforcement and improvement projects, reinforcing its commitment to the safety and resilience of the region's electrical system.

This action is part of the Summer Operation Plan, developed in conjunction with distributors and other agents in the electricity sector. The objective is to maintain the stability of the SIN (National Interconnected System) during periods of higher demand, minimizing the risk of contingencies such as supply interruptions, especially in hard-to-reach regions or those with more sensitive infrastructure.

Infrastructure reinforcement and preventive operation

According to ISA Energy Brazil The investments were directed towards modernizations in strategic substations, such as those in Bertioga II, São Sebastião, Peruíbe, Mongaguá, Vicente de Carvalho, Baixada Santista, Registro, and Caraguatatuba.

The investments involved replacing equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, transformers, and protection systems, resulting in a volume 60% higher than that applied in the previous summer.

Furthermore, throughout 2025 the company implemented an intensive preventive maintenance plan for its transmission lines, with inspections, tests, and continuous monitoring of critical assets, in order to guarantee rapid responses to any failures.

Mobile substation, helicopter and live-line teams

The plan also includes a robust contingency strategy for responding to emergency situations. Among the main resources mobilized are:

  • Helicopter positioned in Cubatão for use in hard-to-reach areas;
  • 30 MVA mobile substation, in partnership with the distributor Elektro, located in São Sebastião to serve the Ilhabela region;
  • Emergency transmission tower kits, with assembly within 24 hours;
  • Specialized and live-line teams (operating with live power lines), with reinforced schedules during holidays;
  • Special equipment, such as elevating platforms and aerial baskets for field maintenance.

Batteries kick in during peak times.

One of the highlights of the plan is the large-scale use of the BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) installed at the Registro Substation, considered an innovation in the Brazilian transmission system.

The equipment will be used to control line load during peak demand, with the possibility of additional dispatches in extreme situations. like heat waves, storms or a sudden increase in tourist consumption.

The system was successfully activated during Christmas and New Year's Eve and is expected to operate again during Carnival and other high-risk dates.

Integrated action with industry stakeholders

The plan's development began at the Pre-Season Meeting held in November 2025, with the participation of transmission companies, distributors, and regulatory bodies. At that time, a cooperation agreement was signed between the stakeholders, providing for constant monitoring of system conditions and a joint response in case of contingencies.

“Throughout 2025 we will continue to expand investments, with operational discipline, modernization of equipment and improvement of the operation of our storage system. With this, we will act in 2026 in an even more preventive (safe-fail) manner with an agile and coordinated response with other agents in the sector, an integrated effort that is fundamental to guaranteeing a summer with reliable and safe energy for residents and tourists in the region,” says Bruno Isolani, Executive Director of Operations at ISA ENERGIA BRASIL.
