Jinko Solar sets new efficiency record for N-type cell

This is the third time in less than a year that the manufacturer has broken its own record

Jinko Solar kicked off June by setting a new world record in the energy market. The manufacturer achieved a conversion efficiency of 25,09% for its TOPCon N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell. The result was confirmed by China's National Institute of Metrology.

This is the third time that the company has broken its own efficiency record in this field in less than a year. Previously, the manufacturer had already reached the marks of 24,79% and 24,9%, in July 2020 and January 2021, respectively.

Jinko Solar said it achieved the new percentage figure after making a series of upgrades to its cell process and Czochralski silicon substrate manufacturing, using a cell area of 267,4 cm². Further advancements were also made to the manufacturer's wafer and cell passivation, diffusion system, surface passivation and metallization technologies.

The company believes that this record and the ever-increasing progress in this field of research pave the way for the mass production of TOPCon cells to become more widespread. For Hao Jin, Jinko Solar's CTO, the new milestone reinforces the company's commitment to investing in R&D.
