A Latin America has the potential to increase yours renewable energy capacity more than 460% to 2030, with the entry into operation of 319 GW in new projects solar and wind energy.
This is what one points out report released, this Thursday (9), by GEM (Global Energy Monitor) – a non-profit organization that catalogs fossil fuel and renewable energy projects around the world.
According to the survey, the continent South American has the potential to become the global leader in clean energy, with the Brazil being a key player in this process, as it presents the best growth prospects among all Latin American nations.
According to GEM, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico represent today almost 84% of the existing 69 GW of solar and wind farms in operation in Latin America. Together, the four countries total 59 GW.
Other study highlights
The survey published by GEM also pointed out that the Latin America will almost have 1 billion solar panels in large-scale projects scheduled to come into operation by the end of this decade.
The research also analyzed that the continent presents a great potential to stand out as a producer of wind power offshore accounts and exporter of green hydrogen.
