Dear readers,

We end 2024 by providing an overview of the advances and challenges of the solar sector in Brazil and around the world. This year has shown both the potential and the barriers that still need to be overcome to consolidate a more efficient and sustainable energy matrix.

Among the highlights of this edition, we address curtailment in Brazil, analyzing ways to minimize losses in renewable generation and debating who should bear the costs of this limitation. We also explore the opportunities of the Capacity Reserve Contracting Auction, which will prioritize storage systems in 2025, indicating a path towards a more resilient electricity matrix.

In the regulatory field, we provide a guide on the Free of Charge Criteria, which can make distributed generation projects even more viable. We revisit the main milestones for 2024, such as microgrids that increase energy autonomy, solar pastures that integrate agricultural production and clean energy, and photovoltaic plants in conflict zones, examples of the sector's resilience. In addition, we explore technical topics such as financial studies for A4 group clients, ABNT standards for photovoltaic systems, underground networks as a climate solution, and the DC-DC Boost converter, essential for photovoltaic systems.

With this edition, we conclude another year bringing relevant content to the solar sector. Thank you for following us in 2024. We will continue together in 2025 with information and analysis to support the growth of the sector.

Good reading!
