Grupo Fleury, a Brazilian medical and health organization, signed a 10-year agreement with the French multinational GreenYellow to contract 4,5 MWp in solar energy.
The resource will supply 47% of the energy consumed by the company in Rio de Janeiro to serve 45 units, including the Labs a+, Felippe Mattoso and LAFE brands – all at low voltage. Currently, the consumption of these units represents 27% of the total used by the company across the country.
The plant will be built in the city of Paty dos Aferes (RJ) and is expected to be delivered in 2021. The investment for the construction and implementation of the plant is around R$19 million. In total, there will be 7.055 solar panels that will produce 7,4 GWh annually.
According to Clóvis Porto, director of Expansion and Facilities at Grupo Fleury, this is an important step that the company is taking towards migrating the energy consumption of its operations to an ecologically sustainable alternative.
“Grupo Fleury has always been a company with a strong commitment to environmentally friendly initiatives, implementing green roof projects, energy efficiency, access to the free energy market, among others. Now, the adoption of a 100% renewable source, such as photovoltaics, puts us even further on a path that we want to follow in terms of sustainability”, he highlighted.
“According to the business model proposed by GreenYellow to customers, the company is responsible for the injection of capital and the complete implementation, operation and maintenance of the plant. Furthermore, the partner has the benefit of purchasing energy at a lower cost than that purchased from the distributor”, explained Pierre-Yves Mourgue, CEO of GreenYellow.
