This market continues to grow in the state. In fact, the city of Poços de Caldas (MG) is taking more and more steps towards sustainable mobility. The first public charging station in Minas Gerias was inaugurated this Saturday (06), at 14pm, at the FEPASA station.

The initiative, which is part of the “Poços + Inteligente” project, is a partnership between DME, City Hall, PUC Minas and the IFSULDEMINAS (Federal Institute of the South of Minas Gerais) and is bringing to the region, among other new features, electric bicycle racks and research into less polluting mobility systems.

“In this case, we installed a Terra 54 CJG charger from ABB at FEPASA. In addition to this recharge point, we built an entire structure, there is a complete landscape adaptation on site”, said Yull Heilordt, professor at IFSULDEMINAS and project coordinator.

According to Heilordt, residents and tourists of Poços de Caldas will be able to recharge their electric cars free of charge during the duration of the program.

Electric mobility laboratory

On Saturday, in the morning, a laboratory was also inaugurated, for shared use between PUC Minas and IFSULDEMINAS, to carry out tests and R&D (Research and Development) in the area of electric mobility.

The studies will have different objectives, such as the impacts on the DME network, the development and integration of the charging and sharing system for EVs and bicycles, the creation of a prototype for monitoring driver profiles and EV autonomy and proposals for regulatory changes.

“The laboratory is located at the university. And there, we even installed a carport with six 330 W photovoltaic modules from DAH Solar – which corresponds to a 1,98 kW plant. Furthermore, it has a DC semi-fast charging station”, explained the specialist.

Another point highlighted by the professor is that a 9,9 kW photovoltaic plant was built on the roof at PUC Minas. “The objective is also to contribute to research. We use a 12,5 kW Fronius Symo inverter and stationary battery bank”, he added.

Electric bike delivery

The Poços + Inteligente electric mobility project also had a stage completed on March 5, 2021. In addition to the electric station, presidents and directors of the institutions involved, councilors, municipal secretaries, vice-mayor and mayor formalized the delivery of four electric bicycles to use of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Defense, through the Municipal Guard.
