Located 77 km from Teresina (PI), the municipality of Coivaras (PI) will be positively impacted by the construction of a mini solar power plant managed and under the responsibility of the State Government. The plant is part of a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) project for mini solar power plants, managed by SUPARC-PI (Superintendence of Partnerships and Concessions of Piauí).

According to estimates by the Piauí government, the installation of the mini-plant could employ, directly and indirectly, up to 16% of the city's population. The city currently has 4 inhabitants. Viviane Moura, Superintendent of Partnerships and Concessions, emphasizes that the creation of new jobs will have a major impact. “It is estimated that 50 direct jobs and more than 600 indirect jobs will be created with the creation of this renewable energy system. This creates new opportunities for the communities of these cities, based on the need to train qualified workers,” she emphasizes.

The Coivaras mini-plant will serve the State Health Department (SESAPI). The energy generated by the structure will be credited to the State Government of Piauí with Equatorial Energia, allowing savings for the public coffers. The plant, with an installed capacity of 5 MW, will have more than enough generation capacity to serve the State Health Department (SESAPI). The PPP for Mini Solar Power Plants has already gone through a feasibility process, public consultation, bidding and is now moving forward with implementation, after the contract has been signed.

Learn more: Piauí will build eight photovoltaic plants through PPP

Three will be responsible for implementing the mini-plants in Piauí: Energias Sustentáveis do Piauí (2 lots representing 4 mini-plants), GM Energia (1 lot representing 2 mini-plants) and Brenge Par (1 lot representing 2 mini-plants). When fully operational, the solar energy park in Piauí will generate 40 MW, adding up to the eight mini plants currently being implemented.
