A Nexttracker surpassed the milestone of 10 GW in the market centralized solar energy – both in projects in operation and under development – with the use of smart trackers.
The company is present in main photovoltaic plants in the country, including: the Janaúba solar complex, located in the north of Minas Gerais, considered the largest in Brazil and one of the largest in Latin America with 1.6 GW; at the Sol do Serrado solar park (MG); Hélio Valgas (MG); Mendubim (RN); Belmonte (FOOT); Good luck (MG) and Pirapora (MG).
“We are proud to have reached this milestone in Brazil, which is one of the main solar energy generation markets in the world. We continue to invest in research and innovation to continue offering best-performing solar trackers and software solutions to our customers,” he said. Alejo Lopes, Vice President of Sales Latin America.
“Our strongest point is the quality of our product and the high availability of our trackers. Furthermore, our business model, since the beginning, has prioritized local manufacturing, being accredited with the BNDES CFI for financing through FINAME and other lines of credit, which allow us to scale quickly to large-scale projects”, he emphasized. Nelson Falcão, senior director of Business Development at Nextracker.
A decade in Brazil
The company stated that it continually invests in R&D (Research & Development). In Brazil, the Solar Excellence Center, located in Sorocaba (SP), is the first R&D space with the objective of exporting locally developed technology for application in global projects.
The site also functions as a training facility for specialized labor, with practical and multifunctional courses for workers in the renewable energy sector and companies that work with solar parks. The laboratory carries out research on the life cycle of solar tracking systems, aiming to increase solar energy production. Since its creation, in 2022, more than 500 projects have been patented.
Currently, with 38% of the Brazilian tracker market, Nextracker occupies the first position in the ranking released by Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables. In Brazil for eight years, the company highlighted that it is celebrating a new achievement: the 67% growth of the local team in 2024 alone.
“We are adapting and scaling our operations to meet growing market demands and opportunities. In recent years, we have increased our technical knowledge and expanded our skills in clean energy technologies through our research and development department, reinforcing our commitment to offering more efficient and sustainable solutions to maintain technical leadership in the industry”, commented Henrique Rodrigues, Country Manager for Brazil.
Challenges for the future
Nextracker stressed that it continues to develop products to meet the new demands of the sector, such as technologies that adapt to sudden changes in climate and, mainly, the adaptation of technology to uneven terrain. Understanding that flat land is increasingly scarce, new projects have been created in locations with more challenging conditions.
According to the company, with intelligent trackers that adapt to these terrains, delivering excellent production and proven resilience, they offer more advantages over other products on the market. Furthermore, trackers are being designed to adapt to extreme weather events, such as stronger winds, hail and even flooding in areas of greater probability.
