The ONS (National Electric System Operator) began the process of selecting companies for the tender to hire the second consultancy for the execution of the Solar Source Generation Forecast subproject.

The project seeks to develop a photovoltaic generation forecast model, within the real time horizon. This horizon can range from minutes to 24 hours in advance.

Advances are expected to consider different types of forecasts for solar generation, which take into account different techniques. For example, machine learning algorithm , regressive modeling, smart persistence, numerical weather forecasting, in addition to the use of analysis and treatment methods for both solarimetric and meteorological data observed in situ and satellite data.

This project is part of the second part of the Technical Assistance project for the Energy and Mineral Sectors – META II Project. The initiative is carried out in conjunction with the World Bank, in a loan agreement.

The project, coordinated by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), aims to promote training and development in the Brazilian energy sector. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2025.

Interested companies, which meet the selection criteria, have until February 5, 2024 to send the documents to email compras@ons.org.br; cpereira@ons.org.br; is alexandre.ferreira@ons.org.br;

Criteria

The criteria set out in the notice are:

  • Minimum of 5 years on the market
  • Experience with studies, development and application of satellite data, cloud displacement identification and prediction techniques;
  • Experience in technological solutions and technical consultancy services in the electrical energy and intermittent sources sector, especially in photovoltaic solar generation, with national and/or international competence;
  • Experience in analyzing, processing and filling out meteorological, solarimetric and photovoltaic solar generation data, as well as experience in storing and structuring large volumes of data;
  • Experience in studies and development of methodologies for forecasting the generation of intermittent sources (especially solar photovoltaic), including proven knowledge of applications with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques;
  • Experience in project management on topics related to this subproject;
  • Proficiency in communicating and preparing reports in Portuguese (Portuguese – Brazil).
