The ONS (National Electric System Operator) has launched two new tools to expand access to information about the operation of the Brazilian electric system: an area dedicated to monitoring the effects of Super El Niño 2026 and an AI (artificial intelligence) solution to facilitate queries to the Open Data Portal.
The initiatives have different purposes. While the first focuses on news, technical content, and materials about monitoring the potential impacts of the climate phenomenon on the SIN (National Interconnected System), the second allows users to search for information in databases provided by the Operator with the help of AI.

Those seeking to monitor the potential effects of El Niño on the Brazilian electrical system now have access to a dedicated environment that centralizes information on the subject. new section of the ONS portal It brings together news, technical content, and materials that show how the climate phenomenon is monitored and incorporated into the planning of the SIN's operation.
The initiative seeks to strengthen proactive preparedness for different climate scenarios and expand access to information used by the Operator in monitoring the phenomenon. Climate resilience has become part of the ONS's strategic priorities, guiding activities related to risk management, planning, the regulatory agenda, and the programming of the electrical system's operation.
The creation of the page is part of a set of actions developed by the Operator to expand the dissemination of information about El Niño and its possible effects on the electricity sector. Last Tuesday (11), for example, ONS brought together experts and market representatives to discuss the preparation measures adopted in the face of the phenomenon.
Among the topics discussed were the planning of the SIN's operation, system programming, and real-time operational actions aimed at increasing response capacity in the face of different weather scenarios. The new page also provides access to the materials presented during the meeting, as well as recordings of the discussions.

The second new feature is... Tiago Open DataThe tool uses AI to assist users in accessing information provided by the ONS (National System Operator). The goal is to facilitate access to the Open Data Portal databases for companies, agents in the electricity sector, and society in general.
Through this tool, users can query information already made available by the Operator, using AI to assist in locating the data. “The use of AI does not replace the technical assessments of our specialists, but it can help in the search for information already available on the portal,” said Maurício de Souza, Director of IT, Stakeholder Relations and Regulatory Affairs at ONS.
