The CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) released this week the generation and consumption balance for the month of June. A production of the photovoltaic source was highlighted, with growth of 47,1% compared to June 2023, totaling 2.922 MWmed (average megawatt).
The country's main source, hydroelectric plants produced 44.474 MWmed in June, an increase of 2,2% considering the same basis of comparison. Wind power totaled 13.726 MWmed, an increase of 12,3%. On the other hand, thermoelectric generation fell 8,5%, with 9.463 MWmed produced.
Energy consumption
Also according to data from CCEE's InfoMercado, Electricity consumption in the country in June totaled 67.348 MWmed, a positive variation of 6,2% – with the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR) growing 7,9% and the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) increasing 3,7%.
High temperatures and lower rainfall volumes impacted consumption in the country. Highlighting the highest growth in demand in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul (23,7%), Rondônia (19,6%), Amazonas (13,3%) and Espírito Santo (12,8%). Only the states of Amapá (-1,5%), Rio Grande do Norte (-0,1%) and the Federal District (-0,4%) recorded a drop.
Among the sectors of economic activity, the biggest changes were seen in the sectors of beverages (10,7%), Services (9,0%), Sanitation (8,2%) and Wood, paper and cellulose (7,7%) . At the other end, the sectors of textiles (-4,8%), telecommunications (-2,0%) and extraction of metallic minerals (-0,7%) showed a drop, while trade fluctuated negatively at -0,3%.
