The use of solar energy in the RMC (Metropolitan Region of Campinas) is growing in a sustainable manner established by the municipalities.
The implementation of photovoltaic technology to obtain electrical energy is cost-effective for both the consumer and the environment.
The pioneering of this source by public bodies is essential to encourage the population to seek the use of sustainable energy and thus boost large-scale adoption.
Paulínia Chamber is a pioneer in the use of solar in RMC
The estimate is that in two months the Municipal Council of Paulínia (SP) will have a photovoltaic system in operation. In total, R$1,48 million were invested in the construction of the plant, which has around 230 modules.
With the consolidation of this achievement, the city hall is on track to be the first in the RMC to apply the use of solar energy. The idea is to also become the seat of the most sustainable legislative power in Brazil.
To this end, projects aimed at sustainable development were established, such as “Câmara sem Papel”, which resulted in savings on paper and printer maintenance. The “Green Chamber” is on its way to being beneficial to the environment and public coffers.
Green Chamber
The Câmara Verde project brings together measures approved by councilors in March 2022, such as the use of solar energy, modernization of the physical structure of the building, digitization of documents, sustainable use of water resources, selective collection, etc.
In the Chamber area, a recycling point is being built to supply electric cars and a well to use water. Both await approval from CPFL (Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz) for operation.
Paço de Hortolândia will be fully sustainable
On June 29th, Mayor José Nazareno Zezé Gomes of Hortolândia (SP) signed an order to begin the construction of the new Municipal Palace.
The building is scheduled to open in 2023 and will rely on the use of renewable energy. The expectation is that the new measure will take the city to another level of regional development and sustainability.
The Palace will be supplied with electricity from its own solar power plant installed on the roof of the parking lot.
The system will be built with resources provided by CIP (Public Lighting Contribution). The system's energy production must be sufficient to meet the building's needs and, if there is surplus, it will be transferred to the CPFL network.
According to Carlos Roberto Prataviera Júnior, Secretary of Urban Planning and Strategic Management, the building will have approximately 10 thousand square meters and will have gardens and parking.
The works will be the responsibility of the CEE Paço Hortolândia Consortium, made up of three companies, Construmedici Engenharia e Comércio Ltda, Engeluz Iluminação e Eletricidade Eireli and Construtora Etama LTDA.
The amount invested will be R$55.955.433,69 and the estimate is that the contribution for construction will be recovered within five years. According to Pasta, this is projected due to all the recurring savings from sustainable practices and the joining of departments – which, when separated, had individual rental expenses. Therefore, there will be more money left to meet the demands of other areas, such as health and education.
