A first station de supply de H2V (green hydrogen) world will developed na USP (University of Sao Paulo), second o government do state de São Paulo.
The project will be carried out in partnership with companies in the fuel sector. The technology is expected to be operational by the end of the first half of 2024. pilot plant ocwill build an area of 425 square meters with the capacity to produce 4,5 kg of hydrogen per hour.
The project is the result of an investment of R$50 million, which has the support of Shell Brasil, Raízen, Hytron, Toyota and Senai. The companies signed a cooperation agreement to develop H2V production plants from ethanol.
According to Júlio Meneghini, director of the Research Center for Innovation in Greenhouse Gases at USP, in addition to being economically advantageous, the technology allows the capture of carbon from ethanol, resulting in negative emissions, especially when compared to hydrogen produced by from solar energy or from water.
“Our estimate at the moment is that the cost of producing hydrogen from ethanol will be very competitive when compared to the cost of hydrogen from natural gas reforming in the Brazilian context”, says the director.
“It gives me great pride to know that the first reformer in the world capable of transforming ethanol into hydrogen, on this scale, is being built here in Brazil, in São Paulo, at USP”, commented Tarcísio de Freitas, governor of São Paulo.
“It is a very important role for the State of São Paulo and we have everything to lead the energy transition process, reducing the carbon footprint, being an example of sustainability and circular economy for the world”, he added.
