A Revolusolar, an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) founded in 2015 in the Babilônia Favela, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), is one of the finalists for the 2024 Social Entrepreneur Award, promoted by Folha de São Paulo.
With the aim of democratizing access to solar energy, Revolusolar works to transform the reality of low-income communities, promoting sustainable development and social inclusion.
In its 20th edition, the Social Entrepreneur Award was created in 2005 and highlights initiatives that seek solutions to social and environmental challenges, encouraging projects that generate a positive impact on society.
This year, the award included a new popular category, which allows the public to directly support the finalist initiatives through donations starting at R$5 until November 8th.
The winners will be announced on November 12th in a ceremony at the Theatro Municipal, located in the República neighborhood, in São Paulo (SP), with live broadcast on TV Folha.

“The main message I want to convey is this: we need support to strengthen the solar sector and show that solar energy can also reach low-income communities. This support is essential to advance the name of solar energy and to win the Social Entrepreneur Award,” said Eduardo Ávila, CEO of Revolusolar.
