Water and sanitation company signs self-production agreement with solar complex.

Aegea, a basic sanitation company operating in more than 890 Brazilian municipalities, has signed a self-generation energy contract with Casa dos Ventos. The agreement provides for the purchase of an average of 13,89 MW from the Seriemas Solar Complex, currently under construction in Mato Grosso do Sul.

With 400 MW of installed capacity, the project is part of Casa dos Ventos' renewable energy generation portfolio. Seriemas is one of three photovoltaic complexes that the company plans to inaugurate in southern Mato Grosso do Sul.

Starting in 2027, the contracted energy should fully supply the consumption of two Aegea operations located in Pará and Piauí. With this initiative, the company seeks to increase budget predictability, expand the use of renewable sources, and reduce emissions associated with its activities.

Self-generation allows large consumers to participate, directly or indirectly, in generation projects aimed at meeting their own demand. In addition to providing greater predictability regarding electricity costs, this model can reduce exposure to fluctuations in the energy market.

According to Emerson Rocha, Executive Manager of Energy Management at Aegea, 99% of the electricity consumed by the company's units already comes from renewable sources.

In 2022, the company also committed to reducing its specific energy consumption by 15% by 2030. This indicator, measured in kWh per cubic meter, relates the amount of electricity used to the volume of water or sewage processed in sanitation operations.
