Construction company JA Russi is preparing to inaugurate a shopping center powered entirely by solar energy. With an investment of R$ 100 million, the Garden Open Mall is scheduled for delivery in June and is located in Itapema (SC), the second city with the most expensive square meter in the country.
The project adopts the concept of open mall, with open areas and integrated landscaping. The expectation is that it will generate around 300 direct jobs once the project is operational.
The energy supply will be guaranteed by a solar power plant with 1.338 photovoltaic panels, installed in Porto Belo (SC). In operation for over a year, the plant has already generated more than 700 kWh. The total investment in the solar farm was approximately R$ 5 million.
Currently, the energy produced is destined for the Calçadão Praia Shopping (70%), the group's shopping center, and the construction company's office (30%), both in Itapema. After the inauguration of the Garden Open Mall, scheduled for 2026, the new development will be entirely supplied by the power plant.
According to the construction company, the plant has already provided accumulated savings of R$ 300. “The construction industry has been advancing in the incorporation of more conscious practices, and our solar farm represents a voluntary commitment from JA Russi to the environment,” states Suzana de Fátima Russi Chiamenti, president of the JA Russi Group.
