With the new changes to energy compensation rules, we will now have to pay attention to the simultaneity factor, which could influence design decisions. This factor will be a key factor in the accelerated growth of photovoltaic DG (distributed generation).

This is the analysis of Bernardo Marangon, specialist in electrical energy markets and director of Exact Energy. During the webinar Law 14.300/2022: what is the viability of solar distributed generation?, promoted by Canal Solar This Tuesday (18), he commented on the importance of the concurrency factor in the new rule and highlighted the role of storage in making projects viable.

“The new law is worse than the current rule, provided for in Resolution 482 (Normative Resolution No. 482/2012). Anyone who can take advantage of the 2022 window, take advantage, go after it to be able to move forward with the projects. For the future, the word is simultaneity,” he said.

“In other words, you generated energy through your generator, in this case solar photovoltaic. If you consumed it instantly, you didn't send it to the network, you have simultaneity with your generation. In this case, it prevents you from needing the network and reduces the impact of the new rule”, reported Marangon.

According to the expert, to increase the simultaneity you can, for example, do a smaller project – managing to generate and consume electricity at the same time – and change the load behavior – placing more load at the time when the photovoltaic will be generating. That is, changing the characteristics of consumption.

“So, try to consume more electricity when the solar plant is generating more or using storage technology. This excess solar energy that you would need to inject into the grid will charge your battery. And in the moments when it is not generating, you discharge the battery. This increases simultaneity”, he explained.

From the point of view of innovations in the electricity sector, storage is what has received the most investment in recent years, according to the director of Exata. “We will have an increase in the cost of network service and a decrease in the battery investment cost. I bet this decade will be the decade of storage technology. We have to be prepared to take advantage of this new trend,” he emphasized.

GD viability

Relating to viability of photovoltaic DG with Law 14.300, Marangon highlighted that the sector is still in the current model and that, therefore, this will only be discussed at the beginning of next year. “However, what we are sure of is that the new rule has an important impact on the savings that the customer will have.”

“More on, it will be necessary to study and look for new alternatives. I think that this market is so strong that we will certainly find viability for the projects in the future, despite the change in standards”, he clarified.

“Every change generates fear, but as we evolve, we find alternatives. Sometimes the solution may even be subsidized financing that helps make projects viable. The important thing is to be aware of the impacts of change and think about solutions to continue growing”, highlighted the executive.

future

In Marangon's view, in the year 2023, in February or so, it will be necessary to analyze what the country's economic situation will be like. “We will begin a new term and issues such as the dollar, inflation and SELIC must be monitored. We will see if we will still have this scenario of high inflation that ends up putting pressure on the SELIC. High SELIC causes investors to look for fixed income securities, reducing investment in the real economy”.

From a global point of view, he commented that perhaps 2023 will be marked by calm in relation to the pandemic. "I hope. This will probably help the world to organize itself commercially again and not have problems with lack of supply – a factor that ended up causing the dollar price of photovoltaic equipment to rise.”

Another point that should contribute, in the expert's view, is the struggle of Europe and the States to be less dependent on Chinese products. “We are seeing some European and American manufacturers receiving a lot of encouragement to grow. Perhaps more competition in the equipment world will help bring the price down,” he concluded.

    What is meant by “moderation”?
This observation can be read in a large part of the dominant leftist media that seeks to oppress, censor and cancel free expression and objective debate!

Simultaneous deserves to be expanded by continuous, to compensate for the lack of generation.
The low efficiency factor of panels needs to be mentioned for comparative purposes as well as highlighting that panels are not “renewable” and batteries are beginning to be recycled.
China's influences are expressed both in the mistaken foreign policy of Western countries, allowing dependence and industrial espionage, and in the outbreak of a “manufactured epidemic” for political purposes, combined with a subversion of freedom in the Western world. In fact, we are not observing a fight against dependence but rather a reversal of wrong strategic policies. Australia showed in the case of coal that threats from China can be defused with smart decisions. The world turned against China's aggressiveness.
