Solar energy added 8 GW of operational capacity between January and July

The mapping of the ABSOLAR also shows that they were created 240 thousand new jobs in the first seven months of the year, in addition to transfers of approximately R$6,9 billion in taxes and charges for public coffers in the period.

For Sergio Lucas, CEO of BelEnergy, distributor of photovoltaic equipment in the country, expectations for growth in the solar sector in Brazil are high for this and the coming years. 

“A significant increase in consumer demand for solar energy is expected. Furthermore, new technologies are making photovoltaic systems more efficient and affordable, which will further drive the sector’s growth in Brazil,” he said. 

Roberto Caurim, CEO of Bluesun, explains that the growth of solar energy relieves family budgets and increases the competitiveness of Brazilian productive sectors, factors that are increasingly important for the national economy and for fulfilling the environmental commitments assumed by the country.

“The solar source helps in Brazil's reindustrialization process, in addition to stimulating the diversification of electricity supply, reducing pressure on water resources and the risk of further increases in the population's electricity bill”, he highlighted.
