The search for greater energy autonomy and security against blackouts has driven the use of batteries in conjunction with solar energy systems in Brazil.

With the drop in equipment prices and growing concern about the stability of the electrical grid, consumers have invested in this solution to ensure uninterrupted energy supply, especially in high-end properties, points out a mapping released by Holu.

Our In the last 12 months, the company reported that it has registered a growth of around 400% in requests for technology quotes throughout the country, especially from clients with high-end properties, a large part of which are São Paulo.

According to the supplier, the main motivation of these consumers is to reduce dependence on the electricity grid and add energy efficiency to their properties. In addition, factors such as frequent power outages and the appreciation of sustainable properties also drive the adoption of the technology.

“Obviously, there is a large uptake from customers who face frequent power outages and do not want to depend exclusively on the electricity grid, but in general, they are consumers who seek to increase the value of their properties, making them more intelligent, technological and sustainable”, explains Sophia Cavalcanti, head of new business at Holu.

According to her, in high-end projects, energy efficiency and independence from the electrical grid have become increasingly desired features, adding sophistication and security to the property.

For a home that wants autonomy during the night, the specialist explains that the need for storage may be greater, ensuring that lighting, air conditioning, refrigerator and other essential appliances will function for up to 12 hours.

“The average payback time for a battery system integrated with solar energy varies between 4 and 5 years, but it is also important to consider the indirect benefits, such as eliminating the risk of blackouts that could cause major losses in burned equipment, loss of refrigerated food and even financial impacts on home offices or commercial operations,” he highlighted.
