Solar energy reached the historic mark of 10 GW of installed power in DG (distributed generation) in Brazil this Thursday (06), according to a survey carried out by Canal Solar, based on data ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
This is a growth of over 70% compared to the same period last year, when the segment had just 5,84 GW on April 7, 2021.
The numbers recorded by the Agency also show that the country today has little more than one thousand 930 photovoltaic systems connected to the grid, bringing savings and sustainability to more than 1,17 million UCs (consumer units).
Currently, the source is also present in more than 98,2% of Brazilian municipalities (5.470 of 5.570) and in all states of the country, including Minas Gerais (1,69 GW), São Paulo (1,29 GW) and Rio Grande do Sul (1,15 GW) has the highest accumulated volumes.
At the moment, the three states are the only ones that have already surpassed the 1 GW mark in installed power.
Among the consumption classes, residential is the one that leads the statistics, with 4,5 GW, or around 45% of the total accumulated installed power.
Next, commercial establishments (3,25 GW), rural consumers (1,36 GW) and industries (0,75 GW) appear; in addition to the systems installed in government buildings and lighting for municipal streets and avenues, which currently total just over 0,12 GW.
Solar growth
In the last ten years, solar energy has already accounted for over R$52,4 billion in new investments, which generated more than 300 thousand jobs accumulated in the period in all regions of Brazil, according to ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
In the entity's understanding, the country should have the best year in the history of photovoltaic energy in 2022. “The self-generation of solar energy will continue to grow rapidly and should practically double its installed operational capacity, driven by increases in electricity rates above inflation and by the publication of Law No. 14.300”, highlighted the ABSOLAR.
