The main inputs in the solar production chain recorded a drop in prices throughout the first half of 2025. The data, collected by Infolink Consulting, show a decline in the values of materials such as polysilicon, wafers, cells and photovoltaic modules.
In the case of polysilicon, a fundamental raw material for the production of cells and modules, the value fell from US$ 21,00/kg in the first week of January to US$ 19,00/kg in relation to the last week of June, marking a 9,5% decline.
Meanwhile, 182 mm P-Type Wafers, essential in the manufacture of solar cells, saw an even more significant drop: from US$ 0,152 per piece at the beginning of the year to US$ 0,113 per piece at the end of the semester – a reduction of more than 25%.
Solar cells also followed this trend. Type P cells went from US$0,039/W to US$0,035/W, while Type N cells – more modern and with greater efficiency – fell from US$0,039/W to US$0,030/W, accumulating a drop of almost 23% in the period.
Photovoltaic modules, which represent the final stage of manufacturing, also showed a decline, although on a smaller scale. The TOPCon model, one of the main bets in the sector at the moment, saw a slight reduction, going from US$ 0,09/W to US$ 0,088/W.
Meanwhile, HJT modules, recognized for their high efficiency and lower degradation rate, fell from US$0,105/W to US$0,09/W – a drop of around 14% in the first half of this year.
Reductions like these tend to favor the photovoltaic market, making it more competitive. However, factors such as exchange rates, international logistics and possible political and tariff measures can influence the final cost of the equipment.
