Electro Graphics announced the new version of its SOLergo 2025 Series software, which offers a solution for sizing Grid-Zero photovoltaic systems. By inputting data such as consumption and address, the software calculates components for energy self-sufficiency, avoiding the need to inject energy into the grid.
The inclusion of batteries, configurable in the software, allows excess energy to be stored for later use and optimize consumption. The tool considers factors such as maximum consumption and desired autonomy.
According to the company, by eliminating energy injection, the Grid-Zero system reduces tariff costs and aims to increase energy independence. The software calculates the economic return, considering only simultaneous consumption (according to the consumer unit's load profile) and battery storage capacity.
Grid-Zero System Sizing
Grid-Zero is a technology that controls the export of energy to the electrical grid, making an on-grid photovoltaic system self-sufficient. This system ensures that the energy generated is used only for local consumption, without being injected into the electrical grid.
To be able to size the system in SOLergo, it is necessary to fill in the address and consumption data, then it is necessary to access the System window and activate the Grid-Zero option, as illustrated in the image below.

"Based on the data provided, the software will perform calculations to size all system components, ensuring that energy generation is sufficient to meet consumer demand without injecting energy into the distributor's grid," said Electro Graphics.
Grid-Zero with batteries
To include batteries in a Grid-Zero system, simply select the "Storage System" option in the system configuration window. Then, go to the "Components" section and select "Storage." In this section, the designer can choose the model and number of batteries to use.
The software also offers battery sizing capabilities, accessible through the "Sizing" option. To perform sizing, you must provide:
- Unit consumption: value entered in the Consumption window;
- Month for sizing: month with the highest average daily consumption;
- Minimum battery charge state: minimum allowable charge level;
- Autonomy: time of autonomy that you want to guarantee.

Based on this information, the software calculates the kWh capacity required to meet demand, considering the defined criteria. After the calculation, the designer can select a battery model from the software's database that meets or exceeds the calculated capacity.
By including batteries in a Grid-Zero system, excess energy is stored for later use. When the batteries reach their maximum charge and there is no consumption demand, the software deactivates the inverters, preventing energy from being fed into the grid.
Economic analysis
The energy analysis and calculation of the economic return of a Grid-Zero system considers the simultaneous consumption of the installation and the storage capacity of the batteries (if activated).
"This way, the costs related to TUSD wire B and other components defined by Law No. 14.300 are zeroed out. However, the software considers the availability cost when the photovoltaic system and batteries supply all consumption and there is no use of energy from the distributor," explained the Electro Graphics.

"With the new version, SOLergo users can offer their clients accurate projects and proposals for Grid-zero photovoltaic systems, providing a complete analysis and assessment of the energy and economic profitability that this modality can provide," the company concluded.
