SPIC Brazil and Recurrent Energy, a company that is part of the Canadian Solar Group, announced this Monday (4) a new partnership involving an investment of approximately R$ 400 million in the Luiz Gonzaga solar energy complex, installed in the municipality of Terra Nova (PE), in which SPIC Brasil will have a 70% stake.
With 114 MWp and 166 solar panels, the project has the capacity to supply around 140 homes per year. The photovoltaic plant is expected to enter commercial operation later this month.
This is SPIC's third solar project in Brazil, whose entry into the segment took place with the Marangatu and Panati Complexes, in Brasileira (PI) and Jaguaretama (CE) respectively, inaugurated in June 2024.

“This new investment in Pernambuco represents a continuation of our expansion in renewable energy projects in the Brazilian Northeast, with the aim of forming a cluster and sharing synergies in the region,” said Adriana Waltrick, CEO of SPIC Brasil.
Investments
The Luiz Gonzaga Complex has signed energy sales contracts that total more than 90% of generation until 2033, part in the Regulated Market and part in the Free Energy Market.
The complex obtained financing of R$170 million from BNB (Banco do Nordeste) with a term of 24 years. In the country, SPIC invested more than R$14 billion in seven years of operation.
In addition to the Marangatu and Panati and Luiz Gonzaga plants, the company currently also has more than 1,7 GW under construction (participation in GNA II, in Porto do Açu) and other renewable projects planned.
