Focusing on research on the performance degradation due to PID effect (Potential Induced Degradation), photovoltaic module manufacturer BYD will present scientific project at the largest solar energy congress in the world, between the 26th and 30th of September, in Milan in Italy.

called WCPEC-8 (8th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion), it is considered one of the largest academic events in the sector, and this year will be attended by the Research and Development from BYD Energy.

“Works must follow requirements requested by Congress in terms of both compliance and formatting. And essentially, the impact and relevance in the scientific scenario. Upon receiving acceptance, it was a feeling of pride”, comments Harison Franca, analyst engineer at BYD.

Engineer Hugo Alvarez, who is part of the company's R&D team, and Rodrigo Garcia, research and development manager at BYD, and Mendelsson Rainer, a master's student at UNICAMP, were responsible for authoring the article.

“We are happy, especially for the contribution to an international event, which gives us confidence in understanding that we are on the right path and that Brazilian engineering is capable of contributing to scientific advancement on a global scale”, highlights Garcia.

The project also includes issues such as manufacture of heterojunction photovoltaic cells with amorphous silicon deposited in an ECR-CVD type system, and the reduced efficiency of photovoltaic modules over time, mainly installed in large plants, developed by Alvarez.
