Brazil's solar radiation potential has increasingly attracted the attention of large global companies to the Brazilian market. Proof of this is the arrival of Tesvolt, a German manufacturer of energy storage solutions, to Brazilian territory.

The company specializes in battery storage solutions for commercial and large-scale applications. The battery solution is specifically developed for use with SMA inverters.

The multinational uses high-durability and high-resistance prismatic battery cells produced by Samsung in its modules. Each Tesvolt battery module contains 14 NMC (Nickel-Magnesium-Cobalt) Lithium-ion battery cells.

Every module has an APU (Active Battery Unit) that contributes to management and allows communication with other systems, and is also responsible for monitoring and security of the battery system. In addition, they have an ABO (Active Battery Optimizer), responsible for monitoring and controlling the charging and discharging of each cell in the module individually.

Also according to the company, its energy storage units, which operate at low and high voltages, can be connected to all energy generators – sun, wind, water, biogas, combined heat and power – both on-grid and off-grid.

The batteries are designed to reach 8 cycles of useful life, with a 5-year factory system warranty and a 10-year performance guarantee.

Projects in Brazil

Tesvolt already has its first installations in Brazil, including a system installed in a laboratory in Brasília by Brasal Engenharia, which constitutes a battery bank of 4 cabinets totaling 268,8kWh, with 2 SMA STPS60 inverters, and a water irrigation system. three pivots implemented on a rural property in the southwest of Goiás, approximately 300 km from Goiânia.

In the country, the manufacturer is represented by partner Ideatek, which offers technical support for its systems, applications and features.

“The Brazilian photovoltaic market gains a lot with the arrival of Tesvolt. The company fills a gap in the high-power market, with more robust systems. The arrival of the German multinational will boost the energy storage segment, expanding the solutions offered by photovoltaic energy”, highlights Rogério Mattos, owner of Ideatek, official representative of Tesvolt in the country.

The company expands its operations in Brazilian territory offering all the necessary support. “Tesvolt arrives in Brazil offering commercial and technical support, in addition to the training center where the same training that is carried out in Germany will be offered, adapting to Brazilian standards”, adds Mattos.

International expansion

Tesvolt is currently building the largest electric car charging station in Europe in Germany. The plant is being implemented in an area of 12.000 m², using Tesvolt containers and will have a capacity of 1 GW per year.
