In the next Intersolar South America, which will take place between August 27th and 29th at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo (SP), the Tongwei will present its latest products with PECVD technology – TNC-G12/G12R, as well as the THC-G12 modules.

According to the company, the PECVD technology (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) used in the TNC-G12/G12R modules, as a fundamental step in the preparation of TOPCon cells, is crucial for improving cell performance.

The manufacturer developed the Industry's first large-scale PECVD Poly deposition technology route in 2021, which not only filled the market gap for PE-Tox&Poly tubular technology, but also provided support for the industrialization of TOPCon solutions.

The tubular PECVD technology was also presented twice in the cover article of PIP (Progress in Photovoltaics) magazine and was recognized and reproduced on the international scene.

Among the advantages, it has high efficiency, fast deposition speed, small winding coating, long service life of quartz parts and high capacity.

In terms of cost-benefit, PECVD technology has lower equipment investment and maintenance costs compared to LPCVD technology, which reduces the cost of equipment consumables and helps reduce overall production costs. At the same time, the company stated that the PECVD process does not require the use of dangerous gases, such as silane and phosgene, which causes less impact on the environment.

“In addition, it can also handle a large number of cells in a short period of time and can complete the deposition and doping of polysilicon layers in the same step, simplifying the production process and improving production efficiency, as well as maintaining a high yield rate and cell efficiency, providing strong technical support for the further upgrade of N-type cells,” they highlighted.

According to tests carried out by competent organizations, the TNC-G12 high-efficiency module independently developed by Tongwei, with the support of PECVD technology, achieved a maximum output power of 743,2 W and a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 23,93% ( test from TV Rheinland).

“Our advancement in PECVD technology was not only recognized by the market, but also evaluated by industry associations. In the '2023 Photovoltaic Industry Innovation Catalog' sponsored by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, high-efficiency silicon passivation contact (TNC) solar cell technology was selected for its originality and technological leadership,” highlighted the enterprise.

Tongwei is listed on the Fortune Global 500

On August 5, 2024, Fortune released the 500 Fortune Global 2024, the definitive list of the world's largest companies ranked by revenue for fiscal year 2023.

China-based Tongwei Group rose nine places to rank 467th. This is the second consecutive year that the manufacturer has been listed, following its debut last year as the first company in the solar sector to achieve this feat.

According to the list, the revenue threshold to enter the Fortune Global 500 increased to US$32,1 billion this year, compared to US$30,9 billion the previous year. The revenues of the 500 largest companies rose to US$41 billion, equivalent to a third of the global total, while their net profit increased 2,3 percent to US$2,97 billion.

About Tongwei

Tongwei, which entered the photovoltaic market in 2006, covers the entire photovoltaic industry chain, including high-purity polysilicon, high-efficiency solar cells and photovoltaic modules, and photovoltaic system operations.

“We are a world leader in the polysilicon sector, boasting the largest capacity in the world, at 650.000 tons. Furthermore, we have maintained first place in global solar cell shipments for seven consecutive years, with a current capacity of 95 GW,” they emphasized.

In late 2022, the manufacturer expanded into the modules business, rising to fifth place in global panel shipments by 2023, with a production capacity of 75 GW. Serving customers in more than 40 countries, they offer a variety of modules aimed at residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale plants.

Tongwei has also joined several international initiatives, including the RE100 global initiative. The company has committed to achieving the goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2030.
