Trina will increase annual production capacity by 10 GW

According to the manufacturer, the company's annual production potential will reach 26 GW by the end of the year

A Trina Solar signed an investment agreement with the Management Committee of Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, located in Jiangsu Province, to expand the annual manufacturing capacity of 210mm solar cells.

In total, 7,6 GW will be added to the Yancheng factory, increasing the structure for international supply of photovoltaic cells, which currently stands at 2,5 GW.

In addition, there will be investments to update the production of another 2,4 GW already existing in the same unit.

According to the company, with other increases in installed capacity and the evolution of the existing structure, the company's annual production potential will reach 26 GW by the end of the year, with 70% in ultra-high efficiency 210 mm solar cells.

The manufacturer also stated that the 10 GW of 210 mm cell production will be used in the new series of Vertex 600W+ products, announced at the end of July.

Other Trina Solar plans

The company also plans to strengthen investment in the evolution of large cells and modules, ensuring that the average efficiency of a PERC cell reaches 23% by the beginning of next year.

According to Gao Jifan, president of Trina Solar, the company will further improve its competitiveness by providing cost and scale advantages during the process of expanding the production capacity of high-efficiency and large-sized solar cells.

“Trina will also take advantage of market development opportunities for monocrystalline products and increase the company's profitability and global competitiveness with the conditions offered in Yancheng, which are innovative and offer invaluable support to the industry,” concluded Jifan.
