The volume of photovoltaic systems installed in Brazil tripled, from 397,0 MW in 2018 to 1.393,1 MW in 2019. The survey was carried out by Greener, a research and consultancy company specialized in the photovoltaic energy sector.
With a total of approximately 200 systems in operation, a solar source accounts for 99,8% of the connections of this type in the country, being the leader in the sector. Following this growth curve, JA Solar, a manufacturer of high-performance photovoltaic modules, has been doubling the megawatts of power installed year after year.
“We have been operating in the Brazilian market since 2015. Over the last five years, we have 400 MW negotiated in distributed generation, with a focus on differentiated products”, commented Claudio Loureiro, General Manager of JA Solar in Brazil.
Claudio also stated that the company is one of the pioneers in the implementation of solar modules in Brazil, due to its technological approach.
“We are leading the adoption of new technologies, for example, the application of PERC monocrystalline modules in centralized and distributed generation, in addition to bifacial modules, in which we had the first project to be negotiated in Brazil, in 2018. Our expectation now is to continue following the growth curve of the solar market and perhaps triple or quadruple the installed megawatt power in the coming years”, he added.
Other data
A ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) pointed out that the accumulated investment in photovoltaic solar energy systems installed in residences has just reached R$ 5,1 billion in Brazil. According to the mapping, homes account for 38,9% of the approximately 2,3 GW of installed power in operation on roofs and facades.
In terms of the number of photovoltaic systems installed, residential consumers are at the top of the list, representing 72,60% of the total. Next come companies in the commerce and services sectors (18%), rural consumers (6,3%), industries (2,7%), public authorities (0,4%) and other types, such as public services ( 0,04%) and public lighting (0,01%).
According to a survey by Greener, the number of consumer units (CUs) with Distributed Generation also tripled. In 2018, there were 45.587 CUs, and in 2019 there were 143.096 CUs connected to the grid.
