The Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in Rio Grande do Sul, received R$1,5 from the Federal Government for the construction of another photovoltaic plant on its campus.
Work is planned to begin in the first half of 2020. The plant will supply energy to the university's own buildings.
Paulo Burmann, rector of the university, and Luciano Schuch, vice-rector, say that the plant represents research and cultural change in energy, environmental and economic issues.
According to the project coordinator, Tiago Marchesan, “the new construction will allow us to invest even more to qualify the work and research that is already being developed”.
