In the renewable energy sector, female participation in the solar industry is around 40% and 21% in the wind segment, according to the IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency).
In Brazil, there are around 20% of women in the electricity sector, with 66% in administrative positions and only 5,55% in senior leadership positions, according to the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
O 'Yes, They Exist!' is a collaborative initiative, coordinated by Agnes da Costa, Director of Regulation and Electric Sector of ANEEL; Renata Isfer, executive president of ABiogás and Fernanda Delgado, CEO of ABIHV with the aim of guiding the discourse on diversity and gender inclusion in the energy sector, highlighting the contributions of professionals in these sectors, which are historically dominated by men.
To compose the list, 'Sim, Elas Existe!' asked for contributions from sector agents to nominate women who were suitable for appointment to high-level leadership positions in the Federal Government.
The aim of the initiative is to show that, although few women occupy these positions, there are many women who deserve to be considered for the position.
The list released in 2018 contained 193 names, while in 2022, there were 399 women. The current nomination includes 400 women who meet the requirements for these positions.
