A technology will be strategic in opening of the electricity market to Brazilian consumers, proposed by the MME in the Normative Ordinance No. 50/2022. That's what he said Hailton Madureira, executive secretary of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), during the Telebrasil Talks Panel – Health and Energy.

The event, held this Tuesday (08), in Brasília (DF), brought together authorities and experts to discuss the impact of 5G connectivity on the energy and health sectors.

"That opening will require modernization of suppliers, agents, in the digitalization and intelligence of energy meters, with better ways of pricing and charging energy, which respond to the scarcity and abundance of resources. THE 5G will be essential for this”, he highlighted.

In Madureira's view, technology will also allow the delivery of cleaner, safer and cheaper energy to Brazilians, in addition to better communication with each consumer.

The issue was reinforced by Renata Rosada, program director of the MME Executive Secretariat, who was also present at the event. “Digitalization will empower energy consumers, advocated in the MME’s market opening policy, as it opens up space for the offering of new products and better management of consumption, which should be reflected in lower costs for the consumer.”

Still at the meeting, the MME highlighted the renewal of distribution concessions to modernize the sector and guarantee reasonable tariffs – offering a more accessible service to users – in addition to offering more business opportunities to distributors.

“This will give more autonomy to the concessionaires to manage the poles as businesses, generating opportunities and better ways of sharing with the telecommunications sector itself”, concluded the executive secretary.

Moisés Moreira, vice-president of Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), and Marcos Ferrari, executive president of Conexis Brasil Digital, also participated in the debate tables, as well as representatives from InovaHC, Ericsson LATAM, Embratel, National Federation of Supplementary Health ( FenaSaúde), 2W Energia and Vestas.
