The transmission auction of the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), held this Wednesday (30), ended with the auction of all five available lots, which together involve 515 km of lines and substations, with a transformation capacity of 2,6 thousand MVA (mega-volt-amps), in the states of Acre, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, São Paulo and Tocantins.
The projects, with a completion period of 36 to 60 months, include lines with investments of up to R$1,3 billion. The average discount was 48,12% in relation to the initial price offered, which means that the entrepreneurs' revenue for exploiting the investments will be lower than initially expected, contributing to low energy tariffs.
The big winner of the auction was MEZ Energia e Participações Ltda, which won two of the five lots (3 and 5) in the event. The biggest discount in the auction – 62,8% – occurred in lot 4, won by the company EDP Energisa Transmissão de Energia S/A. The other winners were: EDP Energias do Brasil and Shanghai Shemar Power Holdings Co. Ltd, which won lots 1 and 2, respectively.
This was the third auction organized by ANEEL in two and a half years, with more than R$13,5 billion in investments and more than 25 thousand jobs created. In a ten-year horizon, the expectation is to generate R$90 billion in investments. “The expansion of transmission lines is essential to provide greater security to the system and give more flexibility to the operator”, assessed the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque.
