Besides approve new rules to organize generation cuts e Postpone the decision regarding the possible termination of Enel São Paulo's concession., the board of directors of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) also approved, this Tuesday (6), the notice for the Existing Energy Auctions A-1, A-2 and A-3 of 2026.

The public session for the three auctions is scheduled for November 13, 2026. The auctions will be held sequentially, starting with A-1, followed by A-2 and A-3.

The start of the contracted energy supply is scheduled for January 2027 in A-1, January 2028 in A-2, and January 2029 in A-3.

The auctions will be conducted in a hybrid descending format, with an initial bid for quantity and price per submarket, followed by price bids in a continuous stage.

CCEARs (Energy Trading Contracts in the Regulated Environment) will be negotiated based on the quantity of electricity, may include energy from any source, and will have a supply period of two years.

During the term of the contracts, there will be no adjustment to the price of the energy traded, following the model adopted in the energy auctions that have been in place since 2017.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) informed... ANEEL The price ceilings set for each of the three auctions are shown in the image below.

The public consultation received 83 contributions.

Prior to the approval of the tender notice, the proposal was debated in Public Consultation No. 19/2026, held between July 9 and August 24.

In total, 83 contributions were received from 24 agents in the electricity sector. Of these, 45 were incorporated, in whole or in part, into the proposal.

Among the main points improved during the consultation are the increase in the value of financial guarantees for the registration of CCEARs (Credit Contracts for the Development of the Amazon) and adjustments to contractual clauses related to taxation.

What do A-1, A-2, and A-3 mean?

The nomenclature indicates how many years separate the auction from the start of the contracted energy supply. The letter "A" represents the year the supply begins, while the number indicates how far in advance the contract was signed.

Thus, an A-1 auction takes place one year before the start of supply; an A-2, two years before; and an A-3, three years before. The legislation also allows auctions to be held in the year of supply itself (A), in addition to the A-4 and A-5 modalities.

In the case of the 2026 tenders, the supply of energy begins in 2027 in A-1, in 2028 in A-2 and in 2029 in A-3, respectively.
