A series of projects aimed at expanding renewable energy is expected to mobilize around R$ 97 million in investments, with a predominance of initiatives in solar power generation.
The proposals were submitted as part of a call for proposals launched by Itaipu Binacional and are mostly focused on the installation of photovoltaic systems in educational institutions.
In total, 15 proposals were submitted, distributed between the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, the area of influence of the hydroelectric plant.
Most projects foresee the implementation of power plants on university campuses, reinforcing the trend of adopting this technology in academic environments.
The projects include the installation of photovoltaic panels and improvements to the institutions' electrical infrastructure, as well as the acquisition of equipment for research in renewable energies.
This concentration, according to Itaipu BinationalThis reflects the growing role of solar energy as a lower-cost and faster-to-implement solution. In the case of universities, adoption is also associated with reduced operational energy expenses.

Coverage
Of the proposals received (involving organizations from the federal, state, and municipal levels), 11 are from institutions located in Paraná and four from Mato Grosso do Sul.
The projects have the potential to benefit approximately 230 people, including students, faculty, researchers, and other members of the academic communities involved.
The selection of proposals will be carried out throughout April 2026 by technical teams responsible for evaluating the criteria established in the call for proposals.
The final list of selected projects should be released within 30 days after the closing of the registration period. After the analysis phase, the approved projects will be formalized through transfer instruments, with the intermediation of Caixa Econômica Federal.
The implementation of the selected initiatives, in turn, should occur within a period of up to two years after the formalization of the contracts. During this period, the works, installation of the systems, and acquisition of the planned equipment will be carried out.
