After the widespread attention given to the report published about the use of solar energy at Mirassol Futebol Clube — which went viral on social media and drew attention to the sustainable infrastructure of the São Paulo club — the Canal Solar sought to delve deeper into the topic.

This is because the adoption of photovoltaic energy has been one of the pillars that helped Mirassol to overcome different divisions of Brazilian football and achieve this year the best campaign ever seen by a debutant club in Série A.

In an interview with Canal Solar, the Mirassol Futebol Clube management detailed the behind-the-scenes aspects of the project — initiated in partnership with Ecori in 2021, when the club was still competing in Série D — and its evolution alongside the institution's growth.

The executive also explained how the reduction in fixed costs has impacted Mirassol's cash flow and how sustainability has guided new projects within the institution.

Check out the main excerpts from the conversation below:

What motivated Mirassol to invest in solar energy?

One of the main monthly fixed costs for the training center was electricity, and we always looked for a company that could deliver quality, energy savings, and sustainability when it came to saving energy.

How does the club assess the impact of the partnership with Ecori since 2021, when the team was still in Série D?

Ecori was a great partner, believing in Mirassol even before we were in the Brazilian Série A. All the partners who believed in us were fundamental in achieving the results we have today.

In the lower divisions, it was even more important to reduce monthly fixed costs; therefore, investment in solar energy has been fundamental to Mirassol's cash flow in recent years.

What has been the impact of solar energy on the club's expenses? In which areas have these savings been reinvested?

Everything received, awarded, or saved at Mirassol Futebol Clube is always 100% reinvested in club improvements, whether in equipment or players. Mirassol is not a club with long-term revenue streams; therefore, it is essential to reduce monthly fixed expenses.

What were the main stages in the deployment of the solar system, and what was the expansion process like for other structures?

Our partnership with Ecori has grown alongside the CT (Training Center). Initially, only the four fields and the professional team's gym area were serviced. Today, we have twenty dormitories for the professional team, a professional team gym, a youth academy, two dining halls, and dormitories for the youth academy.

Furthermore, we are increasingly acquiring energy-efficient equipment, including a space for charging electric cars. Since the training center has solar power, we've been able to eliminate the monthly energy cost. Our partnership with Ecori has grown alongside the training center, always gradually, according to the club's needs.

Mirassol has been excelling in the 2025 Brazilian Championship. How does investment in infrastructure, such as solar energy, contribute to this positive moment both on and off the field?

Mirassol is a club that, regardless of the division it's in, always seeks innovation, increased productivity, and reduced monthly fixed expenses in everything it invests in. In Série D, our monthly revenue was limited, and the monthly and annual energy savings were crucial for that money to be invested in other equipment for the team. CT.

Mirassol is a club that loves innovation and will invest whenever there is financial viability and the possibility of improving productivity, competitiveness, accelerating recovery, and enhancing the physical and physiological aspects of its athletes.

Mirassol's culture, and the profile of its professionals, involves believing in and embracing new trends. Therefore, our challenge is to find partners like Ecori, who bring industry innovations and implement them with the same success we had in our solar energy project.
