A Petroarm released, this Thursday (23), its new strategic plan for the period of 2024 to 2028 with investments of US$ 102 billion – the equivalent of R$500 billion.

The main novelty is the contributions to renewable energy and decarbonization, that total US$ 11,5 billion (around R$56,4 billion), which includes investments in solar and wind power plants, em green hydrogen and em biorefining.

In total, investments in clean energy sources represent just over 10% of the total amount that will be allocated to the company's plan over the next five years.

Amounts that will be allocated to low carbon projects:

  • US$3,9 billion for decarbonization of operations (emissions mitigation and decarbonization fund);
  • US$5,5 billion for low-carbon energy (wind, solar, hydrogen and carbon capture);
  • US$1,5 billion in biorefining (production of renewable diesel and renewable aviation kerosene);
  • US$700 million for R&D (research and development) projects.

Oil and Gas

Of the US$102 billion to be invested, the majority (US$73 billion) will be allocated to oil and gas exploration and production, focusing on activities related to the pre-salt layer – which, according to the... Petrobras, it should represent almost 80% of the state-owned company’s total production.

"The company emphasizes that investments should be primarily financed by operating cash flow, at levels equivalent to similar companies, and preferably through partnerships that allow for the sharing of risks and expertise, and should seek a return on investment, reduction of the cost of capital, and strengthening of..." Petro"Bras as an integrated energy company, maximizing the company's value," the state-owned company's plan highlights.
