UESPI (State University of Piauí) has advanced in strengthening applied research and technical qualification in the solar energy sector by expanding the structure of the NURFPEPI laboratory (Center for Training and Research in Renewable Energies and Telecommunications of Piauí), which now incorporates new accredited tests focused on photovoltaic systems.
The initiative was made possible through an institutional partnership with Inmetro (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology) and the incorporation of a solar simulator donated by... With the new structure, the laboratory will be able to perform quality tests on solar panels according to the standards required by [relevant authority/regulation]. INMETRO, expanding the state's capacity for testing, technical validations, and support for the development of the solar market.
The laboratory's equipment represents an estimated investment of R$ 1,5 million. According to the university, the expansion of the infrastructure should contribute to technological advancement, the training of specialized professionals, and the provision of technical services in Piauí.
During the equipment handover, the rector of UESPI, Professor Dr. Evandro Alberto, highlighted the importance of the partnership that made the machine's arrival at the university possible. “I am receiving the invoice for this equipment and we will immediately contact INMETRO to carry out the necessary qualifications. We already have a cooperation agreement and a partnership with INMETRO, and based on these practices, we will be able to obtain this accreditation,” he explained.
