A CPFL Energy announced, this Thursday (22), a the partnership to Olos technology Mizu Cimentos, from the Polimix Group, for implementation of a green hydrogen pilot plant inside the Rio Grande do Norte.

O enterprise will be applied in the production process of cement company factory, in Baraúna (RN) and will be financed by the Research, Development and Innovation Program of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

In addition to contributing to the technological improvement and market maturation studies, the initiative will allow the evaluation of the application of green hydrogen in the cement production process, contributing to the reduction of polluting gas emissions in this industrial segment.

A The plant is expected to begin operating in 2027, followed by a six-month monitoring period to measure the real impact of green hydrogen on reducing CO₂ emissions, which can reach 12,5 tons per year.

The partnership will also contribute to market studies and regulation of the hydrogen energy vector, also aiming to development of new technologies for the electricity sector, according to CPFL.

A the partnership between companies was made official at an event held at the Government Palace of Rio Grande do Norte, being an offshoot of the commitment made by CPFL in November 2023.

On that occasion, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government to explore the possibilities of developing green hydrogen and its potential applications in the electricity sector, in line with the company's objective of investing in innovative solutions for the energy transition.
