A blackout left around 160 properties without electricity in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) this Sunday (1st), on the day the city celebrated its 461st anniversary. The interruption affected neighborhoods such as Barra da Tijuca, São Conrado, Rocinha, Jacarepaguá, Freguesia and Taquara.
Light, the concessionaire responsible for supplying electricity in the region, reported that the problem was caused by a broken transmission cable on Estrada do Catonho, also in the western part of the city.
According to the company, emergency teams were mobilized to restore the service. Full normalization occurred early Monday morning (3), according to the distributor.
On social media, Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) stated around 20:12 pm on Sunday that, of the 160 customers initially affected, approximately 55 were still without power at that time. "I am personally demanding answers from the company president," he wrote on social media.
